My current PC gaming obsession is Hell Let Loose. I’ve spent about 240 hours playing now and I can attest to just how immersive and thrilling the game is. From the moment you enter a match, you are immediately transported to the front lines of the war, with the sound of gunfire and explosions ringing in your ears.
What is Hell Let Loose?
Hell Let Loose is a Second World War-based First Person Shooter game. You play as infantry or vehicle crew, and must work together with your squad of up to six other players and your team of up to 50 to achieve objectives and defeat the opposing team. This can include small-unit tactics, as well as more strategic goals like building garrisons (team-wide spawn points), delivering supplies, or constructing defensive infrastructure.
Co-operative gameplay
What really sets Hell Let Loose apart from many other games is the co-operative gameplay. Hell Let Loose is highly strategic, with players needing to work together as a team to achieve their objectives. Communication is key, and every player has a role to play in the success of the team.
As someone who enjoys playing as Support, I love being able to help my team by dropping much needed supplies at critical moments so Squad Leaders can build Garrisons, which allow the whole team to spawn on them and are thus a key to winning. It’s a small but vital role, and can make all the difference in a tight match. When my team manages to capture a point or destroy an enemy defense, there’s a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that comes with it.
Matches
Hell Let Loose can be incredibly intense. Matches can last over an hour, and the capture points can change hands multiple times over a match. Often games swing one way or the other as one side gains momentum and then the other knuckles down. Every decision matters, and every mistake can be costly. It’s that intensity that makes the game so compelling. When you’re in the middle of a firefight, with bullets whizzing past your head, there’s a rush of adrenaline that you just can’t get from many other games.
Community
Beyond the gameplay, the community surrounding Hell Let Loose is also welcoming and supportive. Sure there are some troublesome personalities, as there always is, but there’s also always someone willing to help out a new player or offer tips and advice. Having played for some time now and advanced in the levels and ranks, I find myself one of those, helping new players to find their feet and their place in the game, which can be daunting at first.
Fun!
All in all, playing Hell Let Loose has been a great experience. It’s a game that requires skill, strategy, and teamwork, something that really scratches my itch, and it rewards those who are willing to put in the time and effort to master it. If you’re a fan of first-person shooter games or military simulations, then I highly recommend giving Hell Let Loose a try.
